Propagation accessories: what do you really need to get started?

A manageable set of essentials is easier to plan than a basket full of extras. Suitable sizes, clearly explained product functions and accessories you actually need are what count.

Choose compatible components

For starter plugs, trays and small propagators, first check that the components fit together. Check external dimensions, number of cells and intended use. More cells offer no advantage if the tray does not fit the propagator or available space. Our accessory section lists the variants with their product details.

Starter plugs and containers

Eazy Plug describes its starter plugs as bound organic material with preset pH and EC values. These characteristics explain the product concept; they are not a guarantee of success. When buying, choose the appropriate variant and follow the manufacturer's instructions. A small propagator is an additional container with its own function; it does not replace checking the intended conditions.

Heat mats and sprayers according to need

A heat mat does not automatically belong in every order. Compare its dimensions, permitted use and temperature-control options. A suitable controller may be part of the intended system. For a pressure sprayer, capacity, material compatibility and easy cleaning are useful selection criteria. Follow each manufacturer's instructions here too.

Understanding yellow and blue sticky traps

Koppert lists yellow sticky traps for monitoring fungus gnats and other flying pests, among others; blue traps are mainly used for thrips. Traps support observation and can catch flying insects. They replace neither identification of an infestation nor a complete inspection of the plants. An empty trap does not reliably rule out problems.

Your compact shopping list

  • Suitable starter plugs and a compatible tray.
  • A small propagation container, if it fits the intended use.
  • Labels to keep variants identifiable.
  • A suitable sprayer, if needed.
  • Temperature control and a heat mat only where actually needed.
  • Yellow or blue sticky traps according to their purpose.

Our tip: plan the essentials first, then add selectively. If dimensions or compatibility are unclear, write to us. It helps avoid unsuitable purchases and makes your start easier to organise.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to buy every accessory to get started?

No. Begin with components you actually need and whose function you understand. A product with an unclear purpose can stay on your shortlist for now.

Is the largest tray the best choice?

Only if it fits your space and the other components. Compare dimensions and variant together; the number of cells alone is not enough.

Are sticky traps enough for every pest infestation?

No. They help monitor certain flying pests. Diagnosis and suitable further action depend on the infestation actually identified.

Keep your basket manageable

First compile a list of compatible components. Add technical extras only when you can explain their purpose. In our accessory section you can compare variants; for questions about dimensions or combinations, reach us via Contact.
